We recently bought together board members and senior leaders from the rail industry, to considered the challenge of what could be done differently to plug the £8bn hole in UK rail finances.
The following discussion made one thing very clear – significant change would be needed across the sector, and longstanding barriers would need to be overcome. The end goal – financial sustainability in rail – will only be achieved with buy-in from all stakeholders.
With the input of this senior and influential group, we were able to draw out 10 key opportunities for success, summarised in this short paper.
